Historic Protestant church and burial place of Rembrandt

Built in the 1620s and early 30s, this Dutch Renaissance church remains the largest built for Protestant worship, and is also where Rembrandt, his lover and his son were buried. Located across from the Prinsengracht and near to the Anne Frank House. Renovated in 2019.

Rembrandt's Burial Place

Westerkerk is the high-spired church in the Jordaan area of Amsterdam, near the Homomonument and Anne Frank House. The church is a part of the Dutch Reformed Church, which is the U. S. equivalent of Presbyterian. If you happen to be in the area, go inside for a few minutes and look around. Rembrandt was buried in a pauper's grave somewhere on the site, and there is a plaque inside Westerkerk commemorating him.
