Op zaterdag 28 november opent Hare Koninklijke Hoogheid Prinses Beatrix de vierde editie van Amsterdam Light Festival! Het festival zal tot en met 17 januari 2016 de Amsterdamse binnenstad verlichten met kleurrijke kunstwerken. De opening vindt plaats bij de hoofdingang van Nationale Opera & Ballet, waar het (bovenstaande) kunstwerk Northern Lights van Aleksandra Stratimirovic wordt onthuld.
Componist Merlijn Twaalfhoven verzorgt ter gelegenheid van de opening een groots muziekspektakel, genaamd A Bond of Colours, waar honderden zangers aan meedoen. De opening staat geheel in het teken van Vriendschap, het thema van deze vierde editie.
Twaalfhovens compositie is gecomponeerd voor 500 stemmen die, verdeeld over 14 koren, tussen en rondom het publiek een ruimtelijke klankervaring maken. Hiervoor zoeken wij nog zangers en zangeressen! On Saturday 28 November, Royal Highness Princess Beatrix will open the fourth edition of Amsterdam Light Festival! The festival can be visited until 17 January 2016 and will illuminate the citycenter of Amsterdam with colorful artworks. The opening takes place at the main entrance of Nationale Opera & Ballet, where the work Northern Lights of Aleksandra Stratimirovic will be revealed.
On the occasion of the opening, Composer Merlijn Twaalfhoven composed a grand music event called A Bond of Colours, where hundreds of singers participate. The opening is entirely dedicated to this year's festival theme Friendship.

Amsterdam Light Festival celebrates the theme of Friendship and acknowledges the Dutch EU Presidency in 2016. This is why Merlijn Twaalfhoven is bringing together 28 choirs, who perform a song from an EU country to create this opening event. The search for 28 songs chosen by 28 ambassadors from all 28 EU countries let to beautiful melodies and great stories. Protest songs besides children’s songs, raw pop next to sweet love ballads, folk music next to avant-garde. All ambassadors come from the mentioned EU countries and now live in Amsterdam or around. They picked their favourite song. Let us introduce them and give you a clue about the songs you'll hear 28 November.
