Screaming Beans

(2 Ratings)
Very, very good coffee

Amsterdam's first establishment of the modern coffee era, Screaming Beans, served its debut espresso in 2007 (its former 9 Streets location in Hartenstraat), committed to sourcing, selecting and serving its own coffee (in conunction with Trabocca). Sandwiches and pastries are also on the menu, but the coffee's the thing, and it's serious and noticeably fine. In 2018 Screaming opened its flagship shop in Runstraat 6 (in the 9 streets), but this modernand spacious outlet in Amstelstraa...

UPDATE: I reached out to the team, and got a hold of the owner. He said he would do something about it and then never responded anymore. My visits to Screaming Beans Utrechtsestraat have always been characterized by warm staff interactions and delightful coffee. Unfortunately, my latest experience was starkly different and quite distressing. I have a milk allergy and specifically ordered coffee with oat milk, a detail correctly reflected on my receipt. To my shock, I was served coffee with regular milk. The implications of such oversight can be life-threatening for those with allergies. Upon pointing out the mistake, instead of a simple apology or correction, the staff member remade my order in a condescending manner, talking to me as if I were a child and announcing loudly, "Here is the coffee with oat milk!" To add to this, when I looked for a straw for my iced drink, there were none available. Instead of assisting, he made me feel foolish for needing one. It's essential for a reputable establishment like Screaming Beans Utrechtsestraat to ensure consistent customer experience, from drink accuracy to staff courtesy. I genuinely hope the management takes this feedback to heart and ensures no one else faces a similar ordeal. Furthermore, when I expressed my dissatisfaction, the same staff member appeared to mutter something under his breath towards me. This only added to the discomfort and embarrassment I felt, leaving me with a heavy heart as I walked out of Screaming Beans Utrechtsestraat. An establishment of this caliber should strive for a far better standard of customer care.
