Taboo
Small and buzzy bar with just enough room for stools and men standing no more than two deep. Smoking and lounging happen upstairs. Mostly men in their twenties and thirties who possibly remember the 1980s — a decade which appears to inform the look and music of the place. The emphasis is on drink and chat, with Fabulous Cocktail night every Wednesday at 10pm. Events include Drag Me to Heaven (Sundays at 10pm). Opened 2010. A neighbouring compatible den, Taboo Kantine [see entry], opened March 2018. One of the very few gay establishments to have extended its hours post-pandemic.
