Café Pikketanussie

A full-on cosy-sumptuous bar located on a side street off the eastern end of the Reguliersdwarsstraat. Opened January 2022 following the November 2021 demise of the owners' previous bar, Café FAME (2016–2021), owing to demoltion. This fully renovated bar (with its olde-worlde look) is marked by warm browns, reds and yellows. One wall is devoted to old LP covers – a nod to the LP-covered ceiling of Café FAME. For the record 'Pikketanussie' is Amsterdam dialect for a drink, the preferred activity in this establishment. For the record, between the mid-1970s and the early 90s this space was occupied by gay bar 't Pandje. Also, Café FAME (whose antecedents included Mix Café, Chez Rene and Bar CHEZ) may return to Amstel 50 following construction of the replacement building.
