The seventeen-year-old Elio (Timothée Chalamet) spends his summer on the Italian countryside, together with his parents. When Oliver (Armie Hammer), a handsome American research assistent, sets foot on the estate to work alongside Elioâs educated father (Michael Stuhlbarg), Elio is immediately intrigued. He makes up all kinds of excuses to spend time with Oliver, and a flirty tensions grows between the two of them. When their being together leads to a playful and meaningful first kiss, Elio doesnât know where to turn to. Oliver seems to be less caught of guard.
Shot in the sunny Lombardy, Call Me By Your Name brings that perfect holiday feel. The film is based on the novel by American-Egyptian writer André Aciman. Ever since the film premiered at the Sundance Filmfestival, Call Me By Your Name is believed to be the main contender for the Oscars. Singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens made two new songs especially for the film. Old master James Ivory (Howards End) wrote the screenplay.
