Mister B (aka Mr B)

Iconic leather/rubber/fetish stockist Mister B is the shop that gives RoB a run for its money. At one time both were ever-expanding Dutch-born businesses; Wim Bos started Mister B in March 1994, 19 years after his neighbour and competitor. Bos then opened shops in Berlin (2000), Paris (now closed) and Antwerp (2014), with concept stores in Frankfurt, Copenhagen and Dortmund. Bos bowed out in 2017, handing over duties to Nelson Jorge Sousa da Cunha. As for the quality, there's nothing on the racks that's too out of the ordinary (to the fetish-minded, that is), but the mid-range-quality stock features reliable supplies of leather and rubber — most of it made by Mister B in southern Holland — plus neoprene, PVC, faux leather, bondage gear, sportswear and SM accessories, porn DVDs and countless brands of anal toys and lubes. And the brand carries with it a certain status. Sadly and tellingly, in August 2018, Mister B made a move from its brick-walled mothership in the (now rather Disneyfied and über-touristy) Warmoesstraat and, on 1 September 2018, relocated to Prinsengracht 192, just by the Homomonument and the Westerkerk.
