Amsterdam's top retail outlet for published materials aimed at gay, lesbian and transgender consumers, from serious literature, health issues and parenthood, sports, comics and erotica. Located near Dam Square, the store is also stocked with magazines, greeting cards and DVDs, including feature films and porn. Plus occasional "films, lectures, workshops , exhibitions, chamber concerts, happenings and other special cultural events". The business started in 1984, with new owners taking over from May 2013. The rebooted store opened on 30 November 2013, radically renivented in sleek modern style and with a balcony and an upstairs Coffee Corner. On the walls hang posters capturing moments in gay history. The store's name translates as 'merry/cheerful'.
