Club NYX Formerly: April's Exit / Exit (Club Exit)

Drinking, dancing and laughing are de rigueur at this attitude-free straight-embracing indie-spirited gay club spread over three floors of an old carriage house, previously occupied by Exit. The club's name makes reference to Nyx, the Greek goddess of the night. The music is key, with gay men in their twenties dominating the dance floor. Opened 2012 as a "melting pot of like-minded, multi-minded people; people who are out to have a good time". Check the website for messy Thursday to Saturday schedule, with occasional Sunday slots. Gay history lesson: between 1988 and 2010 this was the domain of local mover and shaker Sjoed Kooistra, who ran the establishment (the city's top mainstream gay club) as April's Exit, then, from 2001, as simply Exit (aka Club Exit). In 2011 Rob de Jong reinvented the space, resulting in its current incarnation.
