Homomonument

A subtly low-level but powerful and influential momument designed by Karin Daan and opened on 5 September 1987, eight years after the formation of the Homomonument Foundation. The first of its kind, the Homomonument is made up of three detached pinky granite triangles — denoting past suffering and persecution, a celebration of gays today and vigilance for the future — which form one large triangle, recalling a time before the rainbow flag took over from the pink triangle as a symbol of homosexuality.
