Lola the Green Aardvark

A gay neighbourhood café-bar located in the eastern part of the city, beyond the gay zones, but stocked with high-quality nibbles – various Flammkuchen, a soup, pasta, sandwiches, "urban fries" and cheese-related offeringsl, plus home-made cakes — and a select beverages repertoire to match, from the coffee to the wines and craft pilsners. And cocktails are a thing here. Opened in 2020 by Bertie (Dutch) and John (English), who previously ran the popular Warmoesstraat restaurant Getto (1996–2019). A generously sized outdoor terrace (Lola's Magical Garden) overlooks the Singel canal. There's even a monthly pub quiz. Local landmarks include the Tropenmuseum, the Artis zoo and the Dappermarket.
